Education

Educating MIT students about the technologies and business possibilities of the mobile and new media industries is one of MoMIT's four key goals. The club works towards this goal by organizing speaker events, connecting students with corporate partners for projects, facilitating peer-to-peer education sessions, and administering a news group.

Speaker events

Each semester MoMIT invites senior executives to come speak at the MIT campus. We aim to bring a balanced mix of industry observers and analysts, entrepreneurs and senior executives from established firms. In addition, the companies these speakers represent span the full spectrum of the mobile, media and internet space. Our recent speakers page provides an overview of the prominent speakers we had the good fortune of hosting in the last year.

Past discussions have ranged from broader brainstorming sessions to more targeted discussions of specific industry segments.

Lab projects

MoMIT organizes 10-week consulting projects that offer value for our student members and our corporate partners. Students, working in 2-4 person teams, gain valuable experience by applying their classroom learnings to the real world challenges of partnering companies. Our partner organizations benefit from having talented teams conduct in-depth analysis and develop solutions to pressing business challenges.

Another indirect benefit for both students and partners comes from the close interaction of students and company management. While lab projects are not recruiting or networking focused, successful projects have resulted in MoMIT members taking internship or full time roles at partner organizations.
